It took me 3 tries to get the perfect (desired) result. The first two tries were discarded plank scraps and I used a flimsy Gillette blade to cut the incisions. That was a terrible idea. Not only did I make a severely deep cut in my thumb but the outcome was just no where near decent. After my dad noticed my wound, he bought me a knife kit that came with a bunch of real knife tools and sturdy blades. I traced the outline once more and got into a new piece of oak wood. The wood was tough to cut but it made for a cleaner finish and accepted the dye effortlessly.

On the way to church, it's Christmas eve and we are all well dressed and presentable. To my knowledge, this would become my 21st Christmas. I know the drill, we sit down and listen to the choir sing and for a minute or two I feel a chill run down my spine. Often I've wondered what this chill means or where does it come from...
